World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year. This day is conducted by the United Nation to spread awareness among human beings to understand the importance of our mother planet. The major objective of this day is to protect our mother earth and address all the environmental issues growing day by dayand to take action for the protection of our environment. Every year on World Environment Day, there are new themes about the causes of environmental pollution. The theme for 2020 is to Celebrate Biodiversity.

World Environment Day began to be celebrated 45 years ago in 1974 as a major cause for environmental awareness. World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform for public outreach, and currently more than 143 countries participates in the World Environment Day to raise awareness on national issues, human population, water pollution, air pollution, marine pollution, global warming, and environmental issues.

Environment plays an important role in the healthy living of human beings. It matters because:

  • It is the only home that humans have, and it provides air, food, and other needs
  • Humanity’s entire life support system depends on the well-being of all the environmental factors
  • Environment plays an important role in regulating air and climate
  • Environment is a source of natural beauty, and it is necessary for proper physical and mental health too.

These problems include:

  • Air Pollution
  • Water Pollution
  • Ozone Layer Depletion
  • Soil Pollution
  • Marine Pollution
  • Plastic Pollution
  • Global Warming
  • Climate Change and more.

This day is all about action and physically getting off your chair to do something to help preserve nature. Because it’s a day for everyone, everywhere!

We all should indulge ourselves in;

  • Planting trees
  • Organising litter picking outing
  • Recycling E-wastes
  • Saving Water
  • Hiking in the parks
  • Prohibit the use of Polythene
  • Use Herbal or Natural products
  • Snapping some beautiful shots of the great outdoors

Everything what we are is coming from nature , the food we are eating , the water we are drinking and the air we are breathing are coming from nature . We need to take action to save the nature for our-self.Our relationship with the planet and its environment is a reflection of ourselves and the future. If we look after it well, we will build a positive environment for us to achieve a brighter future.

We need to breathe the air and wonder about the beauty of planet Earth and be more appreciative and grateful for its magnificence. Then, we should teach the generations that come after us on how to do a better job than us. Our streak of destruction is on a collision path with the planet’s need for survival and sustainability. We need to reverse the negative tide. When we continue to destroy the planet, our act of destruction will eventually destroy us. The planet is must bigger than us, it has been here long before us and it can exist without us. Remember, everything that keep us alive and well are taken from the planet. We owe it a debt of gratitude to protect, improve and sustain it.

On behalf of NAYS-Pakistan, we want the  people and governments to behave more consciously toward the environment because our lives depend upon it and they should takesome actions against

the devastating effect of the  environmental problems they are causing to the environment. It is high time to address all the environmental issues at global level else it will become out of control. World Environment Day is one such platform where many countries of the world address all such environmental issues. All the global leaders come together and share the best ways to address it. We wish the problems to be resolved or at least to be minimised so that we can provide a better place to our new generation to live in.We must stretch out our hands in compassion and cooperation to make our planet a better home. The power to save and beautify planet earth lies in every individual’s hands, including yours and mine.

It’s time to change,

Save trees!! Grow trees!! Save Environment!!
